I am very much an emerging artist. Although I painted, crafted, cooked, danced, singed throughout my whole life, I never considered myself an artist… I never gave myself a chance. Once I turned 40, something changed and I began a deep transformation in my life and my art. Specifically, I finally enrolled in art classes and that was the opening that helped me blossom, so that I can finally call myself “artist”. While I have been dedicated to my art for the past three years, what I have learned and unlearned continues to grow. I set out to learn how to draw and paint and to learn what tools and mediums to use. And the further I went, the more I let the rules go, and learned to trust my intuition. I have learned what it takes to express myself uninhibited at the canvas, not worrying what others think of my creations. The liberation I feel by making MY art and expressing myself in the world is what I find most important about my journey. Up until I committed to my art journey, I have worked many jobs unrelated to art, as I focused my college studies on business. I spent many years raising my two beautiful children, and once they grew older, I decided to learn art through Milan Art online classes.

I hope you experience the playfulness of my paintings and feel the transformative energy in my work.  Technically, I work in both acrylic and oil paint, favoring big, engertic strokes that carry the same intuitive spirit as my process. I rarely know exactly what I'm going to paint before I begin - I let intuition guide the first marks and allow the piece to take form as it reveals itself to me, though sometimes a clearer vision arrives from the start. Themes of transformation, growth, nature, beauty, and energy run through my work, echoing my own nature as a whimsical, spiritual person.

I've come to believe that imagination is one of the most important things we can nurture in ourselves. But creation asks something of us first: the willingness to sit with discomfort. Every painting that doesn't work, every idea that resists being born - these are part of the process, not failures of it. Learning to stay with that discomfort, rather than abandon it, is what has taught me how to take a fragile idea and nurture it into something whole - somethign I love, something worth sharing.

My hope is that my work inspires others to do the same: to go inward, find what brings them real joy, and have the courage to bring it into the world. If you've been thinking about starting a creative practice of your own, I hope my paintings are an inviation to take that leap.

Mostly, I hope that anyone who takes in the colors, textures, and imagery that I paint is left feeling a sense of warmth and love for the rest of their day. From my heart to yours….
